Halifax Regional Police and the RCMP are reminding drivers to take the necessary precautions when heading out on their morning commute Wednesday.
"(Winter) road conditions often warrant a significantly slower speed than what is posted," Const. John MacLeod said in a news release. "Remember to allow extra time for your commute so you don't feel that you have to rush."
Drivers are also reminded to begin stopping earlier when approaching a red light or stop sign, clear all the snow off of their vehicle, make sure your headlights are on and watch for pedestrians and cyclists.
All Tri-County Regional Centre for Education schools in Shelburne County are closed for the day.

The crash happened on Clearland Road, the centre tweeted. "EHS is on scene, there are no injuries. Another bus is on the way to get the students. Bus is approx 40 mins late."
Please note there is a possibility for delays in bus service today depending on local road conditions.
