SYDNEY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Eagles have added a Nova Scotia forward to its depth chart on Monday.

Cape Breton acquired 17-year-old Logan Camp from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for a ninth-round draft pick at the 2020 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft, a pick originally belonging to Rouyn-Noranda.

"Logan is a guy we had on our draft list two years ago - he has good energy and is a very mature guy," said Cape Breton Eagles general manager Jacques Carrière. "We were surprised when he made Baie-Comeau as a 16-year-old and it proved that another team saw the same quality we saw in him."

Camp, a Bedford product, was a seventh-round draft pick of the Drakkar at the 2018 QMJHL Entry Draft and appeared in 22 games with the team last season, recording one goal.

"Baie-Comeau had a pretty good team, his ice time became a rarity and he fell victim to the numbers," said Carrière of Camp's 2018-19 season. "I think Baie-Comeau was looking to give him a fresh start and moving him to the Maritimes was a thing that they wanted to do."

This year, Camp played eight games with the Drakkar before be reassigned to the Halifax McDonalds of the Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League prior to the trade. He will stay with the major midget team for the time being.

"The understanding with him right now is that he is going with his midget 'AAA' team to sort of regain his confidence and get some minutes under his belt," said Carrière. "I told him to be ready every minute."

In four games with the McDonalds this season, the five-foot-11, 172-pound left winger has two goals and five points.

The QMJHL winter trade period wraps up on Jan. 6 at 1 p.m. Atlantic Time.
